The Imaging Core Facility is part of the Computing Services and Genomics Department, which is a Scientific Support Service of the CNRS service unit FR2424 at the Roscoff Station. This platform is open to all the research groups at the Roscoff Station as well as external researchers.

The Imaging Core Facility has an Optical Microscopy division and an Electron Microscopy division.

  • At the Optical Microscopy division, biological samples are studyied using optical methods that image the fluorescence emitted by fluorochromes or allow observation of dynamic processes (e.g. in live cells).

  • The Electron Microscopy division offers services for analysing cell structure and its components for which various immunohistochemical techniques can be used.

The Electron Microscopy division of the Facility is part of an official network network of shared microscopy resource centres (RCCM – Réseau des Centres Communs de Microscopie) supported by the CNRS. This network federates various microscopy facilities in France for biological applications on a national level. A procedure for implementing a quality management system at all RCCM facilities is currently being developed.
