The team focuses on the functioning of marine ecosystems. Its overall scientific approach—ecogeochemistry—examines the joint dynamics of living organisms and abiotic factors (the physico-chemical dynamics of the studied environments) and their interactions. The aim is to understand the properties and functioning of marine ecosystems, particularly coastal ones.

The DiSEEM team studies connectivity between populations of marine organisms at different spatial scales and its consequences on evolutionary processes: in particular, adaptation to environmental heterogeneity, the evolution of reproductive isolation between populations, and the long-term evolution of reproductive systems and thermotolerance in marine organisms.

The mission of the ABiMS platform at the Roscoff Biological Station is to train and support researchers from the marine community and, more broadly, the life sciences, to analyze and manage their data using bioinformatics methods. It is one of the national platforms of the French Institute of Bioinformatics (IFB).
