My research focuses on the ecology and biodiversity of phytoplankton. It aims at better understanding the structure and dynamics of phytoplankton species and communities. To study plankton diversity and dynamics, I use both field data (mostly those collected at the Roscoff Time-series station) and lab experiments in collaboration with colleagues and students. My teaching activities are mostly in the domains of marine ecology and biodiversity. A rather large part focuses on taxonomy, systematics and ecology of macro and micro-algae (and includes laboratory and field work). I am responsible for 1 bachelor degree course and 4 Master degree courses among which the “Phycology summer course” that occurs each year at the Station Biologique de Roscoff in July.
Key words: Phycology, Marine Ecology, Marine microbial Ecology, Phytoplankton
