Je suis écologue marin, spécialisé dans l’étude des processus naturels et anthropiques qui régissent la diversité, la structure et le fonctionnement des communautés marines, en particulier celles associées aux substrats durs. Mon expertise, à la fois théorique et pratique, couvre plusieurs domaines portant notamment sur une démarche naturaliste (faune et flore), des stratégies d’échantillonnage et d’expérimentation in situ — parfois tordues — et d’analyses de données.

Mes recherches s’inscrivent dans le contexte de l’érosion de la biodiversité marine, un phénomène aux effets complexes et mal compris sur la stabilité des écosystèmes face aux changements environnementaux. Je m’intéresse plus particulièrement aux dynamiques compensatoires qui permettent aux écosystèmes d’absorber de nouvelles pressions, les signes avant-coureurs de leur dégradation, et les processus susceptibles de freiner leur récupération. L’étude de ces propriétés vise à éclairer et optimiser les stratégies de gestion et d’adaptation au changement climatique.

Pour ce faire, je focalise mes recherches sur deux écosystèmes aux histoires naturelles et enjeux de conservation contrastés :

(i) les forêts de laminaires, dominées par des espèces fondatrices sensibles au changement climatique et à de multiples pressions anthropiques (comprenant leur exploitation directe), et

(ii) les milieux urbains marins, au sein desquels les infrastructures immergées sont colonisées par des cortèges d’espèces dits « nouveaux », se distinguant des communautés typiquement observées en milieux naturels.
