Je suis un écologue des communautés, intéressé par les processus naturels et d’origine humaine qui influence la biodiversité, la structure et le fonctionnement d’habitats marins et des communautés associées. Je déploie pour cela une expertise en taxonomie de la faune et de la flore marine, en stratégies expérimentales ou d’échantillonnage, en analyse de données et en théories écologiques. Ma recherche actuelle porte sur les interactions à différentes échelles spatio-temporelles entre communautés et écosystèmes le long de paysages marins naturels et modifiés par l’Homme.

Mon projet principal (Kelp me !) s’inscrit dans un contexte de développement d’infrastructures en mer, qui est à l’origine d’importants changements environnementaux. Ces infrastructures sont colonisées par des cortèges d’espèces dits « nouveaux », du fait de leur singularité par rapport à ceux que l’on observe communément en milieux naturels. Cette singularité concerne aussi les modalités par lesquelles ces espèces interagissent entre elles (par compétition, facilitation, prédation etc.) et avec ces nouveaux environnements abiotiques. Le projet Kelp me ! s’intéresse en particulier aux fonctions que remplissent les espèces dites « fondatrices », comprenant notamment de grandes macroalgues brunes (laminaires ou kelp) en milieux portuaires et aquacoles. Dans ces environnements altérés, à quel point favorisent-elles la diversité de leur microbiote épiphyte, des macroalgues, d’invertébrés et de poissons associés ? Dans quelle mesure contribuent-elles au fonctionnement des écosystèmes associées (capture de CO2, séquestration de nutriments, réseaux trophiques) ? Autant de questions qui animent une recherche collaborative (SBR, UCN, OFB, IMR) stimulante, couplant observations à large échelle et expérimentations inédites… affaire à suivre !
