I specialize in plant and algal pathology and with a closer focus on intracellular oomycete parasites of red and brown algae.

I specialize in plant and algal pathology and with a closer focus on intracellular oomycete parasites of red and brown algae. My main research include omics of macroalgae and their pathogens, isolation of underdocumented parasites and the design of bioinformatic pipelines to explore their genetic diversity and biogeography. I am also involved in the design of high throughput phenotyping strategies and quantitative genetics applied to brown algae, together with the deployment genome editing tools on the model Ectocarpus siliculosus. I am a fellow of the Scottish Association for Marine Science.
