Ectocarpus overall morphology results from filament growth and successive branching on each newly formed filament.

We are studying where, when and how branches grow. We will use computer modeling and simulation to identify which criteria matter most, and how their modification impacts on the overall morphology. Several branching mutants (mainly hyperbranched, among which the mutant étoile) will be studied to link branching patterns with molecular factors.
