I am a senior scientist specialized in the ecology, evolution and comparative physiology of marine picocyanobacteria Prochlorococcus, Synechococcus and Cyanobium, a monophyletic group collectively known as alpha-cyanobacteria. I am particularly interested in studying their light-harvesting complexes, and elucidating the molecular bases of their vast pigment diversity, with a special focus on chromatic acclimaters that can modify their pigment content to match the ambient light color.
My current activity also includes the comprehensive analysis of metabolic pathways of alpha-cyanobacteria, which relies on the expert curation of numerous representative genomes using Cyanorak, an information system based on clusters of orthologous genes.
