3-year post-doc offer in cell biology in brown algae

Introduction:
3-year post-doc announcement
Paragraphs:

A 3-year post-doctoral position is open in the Morphogenesis of Macroalgae (MMA) team, https://www.sb-roscoff.fr/en/team-morphogenesis-macroalgae-mma at the Station Biologique Roscoff (supported by the CNRS and Sorbonne University: https://www.sb-roscoff.fr/en) (France) in the frame of the ERC-Adv project “ALTER e-GROW” (2023-2028).

The ideal applicant will have a first post-doctoral experience with a strong background in confocal and light-sheet imaging of living cells (from multicellular algae, plant and fungi optimally). Work will consist of imaging dividing cells of four brown algae, at the onset of the formation of 3-dimensional tissues.

The monthly salary is 2700€ gross (~ 2300€ net, including health and unemployment insurance).

The Station Biologique is based in the little harbour of Roscoff, in North Brittany (cheap and calm environment by the Atlantic Ocean). 20 km from the middle-size town Morlaix, and 60 km from the city of Brest.

Founded in 1872, the Station Biologique de Roscoff (SBR) is a centre for research and higher education in marine biology and ecology. It is jointly run by the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the Sorbonne University (Paris).

In the framework of the ERC-Adv ALTER e-GROW, the group “Morphogenesis of Macroalgae” is recruiting a 3-year post-doc to study the cell morphogenesis of 4 brown algae during the formation of their three-dimensional tissues. The goal is to map in 3D cell parameters such as cell shape, internal cell organisation and cell mechanics during the formation of 3D tissues during algal embryogenesis.

The ideal candidate has a good knowledge of light microscopy techniques and is comfortable with the use of the two-photon and/or light sheet microscope. He/she is familiar with quantitative imaging approaches and preferably has experience with plant organisms as a study model, especially in in vitro culture and cell biology. He/she has 2-4 years of post-doctoral experience.

The laboratory is located in the marine station of Roscoff, in western France, and is affiliated with both CNRS and Sorbonne University (SU).

The contract starts on 1 February 2023with a remuneration between 2770 and 2970 € gross monthly depending on experience.

Apply here before 11 November.
