New publication from MMA: Evo-devo of branching

Content text:

Do brown algae share with the other eukaryotic organisms the same strategies to develop their body architecture? A comparison with Fungi and Mosses tend to say that they partly do, but have also selected specific mechanisms.

The recently published article "Design Principles of Branching Morphogenesis in Filamentous Organisms", by Coudert Y, Harris S, Charrier B. Curr Biol, R1149–R1162, 2019, exploits the morphological similarities between the brown alga Ectocarpus, the Moss Physcomitrella and the Fungi Neurospora and Aspergillus, all developping a filamentous body, to infer common mechanisms and shed light on the features specific to each organism.
