NecroFerrin: a single molecule targeting two cell death pathways

Scientific publication

Two scientists from the KiSSf screening platform and UMR8227 (Roscoff Biological Station), together with researchers from the start-up SeaBeLife, have just published a review devoted to a new class of inhibitors that they have named “NecroFerrins.”

According to their definition, a NecroFerrin molecule is capable of simultaneously inhibiting two regulated cell-death pathways: necroptosis and ferroptosis. These two forms of necrosis can be activated simultaneously in numerous human diseases, whether acute or chronic.

This polypharmacological approach opens up new therapeutic prospects for the treatment of complex diseases, such as certain neurodegenerative and ocular disorders.
