My research investigates the formation and function of algal cuticles, with a particular focus on Chondrus crispus, a red alga that produces a cuticle responsible for blue structural coloration. This line of research was recently established at the Laboratory of Marine Model Organisms and is supported by European Union funding through the MSCA Horizon 2020 – BIENVENÜE program. Originally trained as a plant biochemist, I developed expertise in plant cuticle biology during my PhD at INRAE (Nantes), followed by postdoctoral research at Cornell University (USA). My work integrates genetic, biochemical, and biophysical approaches to understand how cuticular macromolecules assemble and how this assembly determines their final physicochemical properties.

I am also committed to mentoring early-career scientists, contributing to university teaching through lectures and laboratory courses, and supervising research interns.
