The Roscoff Biological Station is one of UPMC’s three marine stations. Courses given at Roscoff are an integral part of the curricula of the undergraduate and graduate degrees offered at Sorbonne University

On-site courses cover all university levels, and 10 new PhD students begin thesis work each year. Courses for continuing professional development are also offered to the needs of scientists, academics and individuals from the private sector

Over the past few years, the quantity and diversity of academic courses taught at the Roscoff Biological Station have expanded considerably, now encompassing innovative degree programmes (a bachelor’s degree in Biology and Mathematics), vocational training programmes (professional degree in Food Safety) and programmes with a strong biotechnology component (Master’s major in Marine Biotechnologies and Bioresources).

On-site courses cover all university levels, and 10 new PhD students begin thesis work each year.

Courses for continuing professional development are also offerted to the needs of scientists, academics and individuals from the private sector. With its modern teaching facilities and its seafront location, the Roscoff Biological Station offers an ideal setting and study environment.

Students benefit from personalised guidance and course content that has direct connections with the research conducted in-house.

Created in 2010, this high-level degree programme is unique in France. Students acquire a double specialisation in biology and applied mathema-tics, prime skills for addressing complex systems, from cell biology to the environnement. The first two years of the course take place in Roscoff, and the third year entails study abroad.

Master’s degree in earth and environmental sciences

During the weeks of coursework at Roscoff, Sorbonne University's students have access to specialised infrastructures for lab and field work.

> Speciality Oceanography and marine environments
Multidisciplinary approach to biological oceanography, marine ecology and biogeochemistry, from concepts to experimental methods.

>Specialty Ecology, biodiversity and evolution
Organisation and classsification of biodiversity, mechanisms of emergence, maintenance and evolution, organismal and species biology studied using a holistic approach and in the context of their ecosystems.
