Roscoff Culture Collection

The Roscoff Culture Collection is part of the ASSEMBLE EU FP7 research infrastructure network which has been recently launched.

ASSEMBLE offers on-site and remote access for European research groups to conduct marine research projects.
Both the Roscoff Culture Collection and the CCAP in Oban are part of ASSEMBLE.

Under ASSEMBLE, you may write short proposals to obtain RCC strains (10 or more) free of charge (except shipment costs).

Conditions are as follows :

• You must belong to a European (or from associated state, but not from France) laboratory (but not part of the ASSEMBLE network). 
  For non-european, there is the possibility to collobarate with a european partner who will write the proposal.
• Submit a proposal by February 15, 2010 (there will be a new call for proposal every six months)
  • Go to ASSEMBLE Application web page
  • Download  ASSEMBLE Application Form by selecting Roscoff, remote access to the Roscoff Culture Collection
  • Fill in Application Form
  • Submit Application Form and 2-pages CV to ASSEMBLE web site

• You should know about two months later  whether or not your proposal has been selected.
• If you are in hurry to get the strains, we can send you strains immediately provided you agree to pay the standard fee if your ASSEMBLE application is not successful.

More than 50 new images of strains have been added. Pictures by Priscillia, Ian and Florence.

During the MICROVIR cruise in the North Sea in summer 2007, more than 130 strains were isolated, in particular Synechococcus, novel Florenciella parvula, and some Prasinophyceae.
