Research in genomic and transcriptomic fields
currently conducted on various marine organisms by several
research teams from the Marine Biological Station in Roscoff
(micro and macroalgae, invertebrates) allows to perform
both theoretical and practical teaching of functionnal genomic.
Aims
Relations between ecosystems and organisms
that are living in is complex and can be studied at various
biological levels. Understanding of the response of marine
organisms to environmental changes at a molecular level
is an open field in marine studies. The biological marine
station of Roscoff possess both competences and plateforms
that are necessary to the organization of an intensive summer
course dedicated to the use of functional genomic in marine
organism research. The course is open to master students
and will provide: .
1) an overview of technologies used in functional genomic
to study the molecular response of marine organisms (mainly
algae and invertebrates species) facing to environmental
challenge.
(2) theoretical and practical knowledge of molecular biology
technologies used in functional genomic (essentially transcriptomic
and genomic).
Thematics
Theoretical lessons
Theoretical lessons will be dedicated to :
• Overview of technologies associated with genomic
• Highlights on transcriptomic
• Data analyses
• Use of genomic indifferent field (environmental
studies, ecotoxicology, development,etc…)
Practical works
• Quantitative PCR
• Micro-array
• Data analyses
Personnal
works
A personal work will be required: written
bibliographic analysis and oral presentation of data obtained
and analysed during the practical skills
Application
Destined mainly for masters students from French and foreign universities,
these courses are also open to candidates whose professional activities require knowledge in marine biology
and ecology.
Inscription will occur after acceptance of the
candidature by the lecturer responsible for the course
(Application form).
This form must be returned by the 15th May 2010.
Selection will be based on the candidate's experience and motivation.
Application forms must be completed by a support letter from the candidate's home institute explaining the relevance
of the course to the student.
Accomodation
No inscription fee for the course.
Accommodation can be provided on demand - single or double rooms depending on availability.
From Monday to Friday students can take their lunch and (depending on the number of people)
evening meals in the CNRS restaurant.
On weekends students will have access to a fully equipped kitchen (oven, fridge, microwawe, dishes)
The kitchen is situated in the third floor of the building YD.
2010 RATE :
Room + breakfast : 10 € per day
Lunch and diner: 6 € per meal.
Station
(700). (lire
